  • Ibn Kathir’s Tafsir — The most widely respected classical tafsir. Available on Quran.com alongside each verse.
  • Tafsir al-Jalalayn — Concise classical commentary, useful for quick reference.
  • Tafsir Ibn Ashur (at-Tahrir wat-Tanwir) — More detailed modern classical work.

These are scholars whose content I have personally found clear, accessible, and trustworthy. This is not an exhaustive or exclusive list.

  • Nouman Ali Khan — Contemporary, accessible explanations of Quranic language and meaning. Good for general audiences.
  • Dr. Yasir Qadhi — Strong on theology (Aqeedah), Islamic history, and contemporary issues.
  • Sheikh Omar Suleiman — Islamic history, spirituality, and social issues.
  • Mufti Ismail Menk — Practical, everyday Islamic guidance.
  • Dr. Zakir Naik — Comparative religion and responses to common questions about Islam.

  • “The Sealed Nectar” (Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum) by Safi ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri — The most widely read biography of the Prophet ﷺ in English.
  • “Don’t Be Sad” by Dr. Aid Al-Qarni — Islamic perspective on handling hardship, anxiety, and trials.
  • “The Quran and Modern Science” by Dr. Maurice Bucaille — Scientific perspective by a non-Muslim researcher.
  • “In the Footsteps of the Prophet” by Tariq Ramadan — Accessible biography and spiritual reflection on the Prophet ﷺ.
